Woolacotts Consulting Engineers has won silver
at the annual
Consult Australia Awards for Excellence.
Held at Sydney’s Town Hall, the national awards celebrate outstanding achievements by Australian firms to the built and natural environment.
The silver award of highly commended is awarded to projects of distinction based on originality, innovation, quality of service, client satisfaction, benefit to the community and value to the profession.
Competing against 18 major firms, Woolacotts were recognised in the category of ‘specialist services’ for the blast deflector fence project at the Qantas jet base at Sydney Kingsford Smith airport in Mascot, NSW.
Blast fences are used to control the impact of aircraft engine blasts during testing to protect people and property. Woolacotts developed an original, innovative, highly specialised design to accommodate the massive size of the Airbus A380 and Boeing 787.
The judges commended the team on the very technical and unique solutions that took into account all factors including site and time constraints, continuity of operations and wind factors.
Woolacotts have a long standing relationship with Qantas, delivering critical infrastructure for over 50 years.
