Taronga Zoo Walkways

Thompson Berrill Landscape Design (TBLD) engaged Woolacotts for their collaborative expertise on this project commissioned by Sydney Taronga Zoo. This project focused on detailed design and documentation works at the Taronga Zoo for the new External Beach Walkway Path, Mosman, Sydney.

This walkway provides a link between Taronga Zoo Ferry Wharf and Camp Curlew. TBLD had sought out the services of a highly qualified Structural and Civil Engineer to support the project’s technical aspects.

Woolacotts played a pivotal role as the appointed Structural and Civil Engineers working under TBLD as sub-consultants. Our contributions included:

• Providing expert advice on the Structural and Civil Engineering aspects, generating sketch designs for inclusion into TBLD’s drawings and documentation.
• Structural inspections, evaluation and reporting on the structural integrity of existing walkways and identifying any replacement sections / areas required due to structural system life cycle.
• Generating Structural and Civil design and documentation required for new walkway sections and the integration into existing and new walkway levels / topography.
• Conducting thorough reviews of TBLD’s documentation and design intent, marking up and incorporating necessary alterations.
• Structural and Civil design certification to ensure that all documents prepared by TBLD aligned with the requisite engineering standards
