New South Wales Police Property Group have developed a regional education and training centre in Dubbo with the primary goal of enabling police officers to be recruited in the country, trained in the country and retained in the country.

The Regional Education and Training Centre is located in the Emergency Services Precinct adjacent the Dubbo Airport and aims to provide safe, sustainable infrastructure that enables capability development of up to 1200 police officers per annum within greater Western Region. The facility is to serve as essential infrastructure base to support specialist instructors deliver probationary, mandatory, fundamental, specialist and leadership training for frontline police officers and reduce their time away from frontline policing.

The facility includes an Active Armed Offender (AAO), live firing range, digital learning platforms, simulation suites and agile lecture facility. The centre provides safe sustainable infrastructure that enables essential and efficient resourcing capability development through.

  • Infrastructure capable of providing training capacity for front line police to meet mandatory

compliance requirements.

  • Infrastructure that enables officers to be recruited in the country, trained in the country, and retained in the country.
  • Infrastructure that will immediately mitigate usage of recreational live firing range facilities for heavy industrial police usage.
  • Provide essential sustainable infrastructure for mandatory AAO and live firing, removing reliance

on pay-as-you-go relationships and short-term leases with recreational gun clubs and alternate providers.

  • Provide a network delivering training for important police capabilities into the future.
  • Reduce time away from front line policing.
