Located 43 kilometres west of Sydney, Mount Druitt Court House is a new $6 million project for the NSW Department of Commerce.

Woolacotts was engaged to design and document the new facility.

The building features:

Magistrates' rooms

Chamber magistrate's office

General offices and amenities

Basement with holding cells

Van dock

Community justice centre

Meeting/multipurpose rooms

Waiting area and lobby

Public amenities

Courtyard

Rainwater tank

Solar hot water system

Acoustic separation

The project posed design challenges typical to correctional facilities, such as designing cells to minimise the potential for self-harm.

The building featured a unique facade, designed by architects Perumal Pedavoli, which required special structural framing.
