The Department of Justice – Justice Infrastructure & Assets NSW engaged Woolacotts to design and construct the Cobham Juvenile Justice Centre.

Cobham Youth Justice Centre is the principal remand centre in NSW for males aged 15 years and over.

The centre has the capacity to accommodate up to 105 young people and is located at Werrington in Western Sydney. Opened in June 1980, it houses young people predominately from the Sydney metropolitan area and offers a range of services, programs and interventions to address individual needs and reduce offending.

The initial $13.5 million project located at Water Street in Werrington constructed new administration facilities, education facilities and a gymnasium as well as refurbish some of the existing facilities, with a timeline spanning two years until the completion in mid-2005.

Woolacotts has provided quality structural and hydraulic engineering services to multiple projects over the years since then, including the latest project of new accommodation pods of 18 beds with associated classrooms, new sports field, extended security fence, carpark and infrastructure at an existing correctional facility.
