Woolacotts has delivered Campbell Street Cycleway in Surry Hills for the City of Sydney Council.

This cycleway offers riders a separated eastbound lane up Campbell Street in Surry Hills, Sydney. It provides a quieter alternative to Oxford Street and connects the Bourke Street cycleway at Taylor Square with Central.

Oxford Street is one of the most popular cycling routes in and out of the city centre, but it is often congested with buses and traffic.

Campbell Street now features a separated cycleway uphill and traffic calming features downhill that will mean riders can better share the road with traffic.

The City of Sydney is committed to building a network of cycleways, providing people with a safe and convenient way to move around the city.  When the network is complete the network will be approximately 200km ling, if which about 55km will be separated cycleway. The Campbell St cycleway forms part of this new network.

The cycleway runs form Taylor Square to Wentworth St and provides a mix of on and off-road cycleway, with separated sections provided on uphill sections where cyclists require the most protection.

As well as providing a new cycleway, the project also upgraded elements of the streetscape, including new garden beds, bio-swales, new lighting and 26 additional street trees.

Woolacotts provided civil engineering design and documentation for the project, including modifications to the stormwater drainage system where required.
