The Warburton Redwood Forest Visitor Experience Upgrade strengthens one of Victoria’s most visited natural attractions by improving access, safety and long‑term environmental protection. With rising visitor numbers placing pressure on outdated infrastructure, the upgrades help Parks Victoria balance visitor amenity with the preservation of sensitive forest and cultural heritage values.
Woolacotts supported Tract Consulting and Parks Victoria in delivering civil, stormwater and traffic engineering services from early concept design through to tender documentation. This included validating car park capacity, improving access for buses and emergency vehicles along narrow roads, and developing drainage solutions for a site with no formal stormwater systems. To protect existing tree roots and surrounding vegetation, the team incorporated permeable pavements alongside bio‑retention swales and rain gardens that manage runoff naturally and reduce downstream impacts.
The project delivers clear community benefits through expanded and safer parking, accessible toilet facilities, a new shelter, and formalised walking trails that guide visitors while protecting environmentally sensitive areas. These upgrades support sustainable tourism and help the forest remain resilient as visitor demand continues to grow.
The $3.0M project was completed at the end of 2025, contributing to Parks Victoria’s broader strategy for nature‑based recreation across the region. The work reflects Woolacotts’ commitment to practical, sustainable engineering that enhances public spaces and safeguards natural environments.
