In response to the current and growing demand for more open space in the Warriewood Valley Land Release area, Northern Beaches Council acquired 3 Boondah Road for the development of a Masterplan for sportsgrounds.

The key features included:

  • Four multi-use hard court netball courts with lights
  • One netball court will have switchable posts to accommodate full court basketball
  • 50 car parking spaces
  • Public amenities building with two unisex toilet and one unisex accessible toilet
  • Storage area combined into the toilet building footprint
  • Retention of significant trees
  • Revegetation with endemic vegetation through the natural area
  • Picnic shelter/drinking station/ seating
  • Fitness area
  • A wildlife corridor link at the rear of the site

Woolacotts provided structural and civil engineering advice for the detailed design that was undertaken by Thompson Berrill Landscape Design (TBLD) which was inclusive of; vehicle swept path analysis, pavement details of the car park, multi-use courts, concrete footpaths and kerbs. In addition, the project required design of an in-ground stormwater drainage system as well as WSUD strategy that required a MUSIC model to meet Council’s requirements.
