The Geoffrey Pearce Correctional Centre (formerly known as the Outer Metropolitan Multipurpose Correctional Centre (OMMPCC)) is a 240-bed upgrade to the Francis Greenway Correctional Complex (formerly the John Morony Correctional Complex), and forms part of the NSW Government’s $3.8 billion investment towards increased prison capacity. Woolacotts was engaged by Hansen Yuncken Pty Ltd on behalf of the NSW Department of Communities & Justice (DCJ) for this project.

The OMMPCC project involves the demolition of the old minimum security accommodation areas and the construction of:

Five new two-Storey minimum and medium security accommodation blocks

  • New high security Segregation block
  • New Gatehouse
  • New Reception building

The OMMPCC project integrates with the existing 70 bed Honour House accommodation complex, providing a comprehensive social rehabilitation pathway for medium and minimum-security inmates. OMMPCC also expands access to voluntary drug programs and other schemes designed to further reduce recidivism.

The proximity of OMMPCC to the Sydney metro area will alleviate pressure on the NSW prison system, allowing inmates to be closer to Sydney courts and correctional programs, as well as minimizing impact to prisoner families.

The OMMPCC project was documented in Revit, with 3D modelling and coordination occurring between all design consultants. Building structures were Concrete slabs on ground, with precast concrete wall elements, suspended reinforced concrete floors, and light weight metal roofs.
