Government House Sydney serves as the official residence of the Governor of New South Wales and it is also under the care of the Historic Houses Trust. It is located alongside the Royal Botanic Gardens, overlooking Sydney Harbour. The house was built in Victorian and Gothic revival style between 1837 and 1843 using local quarried sandstone.

Following the successful delivery of a heritage project at Sydney Art School, Woolacotts Consulting Engineers was engaged by architect Barry McGregor to provide engineering services for a refurbishment of accommodation at Government House Sydney.

Woolacotts provided hydraulic and fire services engineering for the project, including schematic designs for hot and cold water, gas and stormwater.

As the ground floor of Government House features ornate, heritage ceilings, they could not be penetrated. Instead, the floor had to be raised. The old cast iron stack system was removed and a new sprinkler and hot water system was installed.
