Engineered options for gas, water, sewerage and fire hydrants systems

Hydraulic engineering

John Morony Correctional Complex is an Australian maximum and minimum security prison complex for males and females. The complex comprises three separate correctional facilities:

  • John Morony Correctional Centre (a medium security correctional centre for men);
  • Outer Metropolitan Multi Purpose Correctional Centre (a minimum security correctional centre for men); and
  • Dillwynia Correctional Centre (a medium security correctional centre for women).

Additional administrative units of Corrective Services NSW are located on-site including the Security & Intelligence Branch, the Specialised Training Unit, the Drug Detector Dog Unit and the Pre Release Programs Unit.

Woolacotts recently completed a major review of gas, water, sewerage and fire hydrants systems that service the whole complex and make provisions for proposed future capital works.

Principal hydraulic engineer Ian Stalker said “just targeting one engineering solution for a complex site like a prison just doesn’t make sense. An engineering options report helps all stakeholders to understand operational issues and make informed funding decisions”

The investigation report addressed capacity issues and examined a range of options that included; do nothing, modify existing, replace and blended options. This report will be used for government decision making and funding purposes.
